The adventure began
… when Ryan, and his wife Shelley, started going to the Outer Banks when they started dating in 1991. The beauty and landscape of the Outer Banks, the laid-back persona of the people, and the community of independent business owners, are what kept bringing them back.
In July of 2011, Ryan invited four families from West Virginia and Pittsburgh, PA to vacation together in Carova Beach, North Carolina. It was one of those vacations people reminisce about for the rest of their lives.
Bobby and Ryan have been close friends for over 20 years. There had been discussions over the last 7 years about going into business together. After this vacation to the Outer Banks, the conversation got really interesting; both knowing this is where the partnership had to be.
These two Go-Getters went back to Kitty Hawk in March of 2012 to do some investigative exploration as to what businesses the Outer Banks had to offer. They teamed up with Matt Huband of OBX Realty Group, and ventured out to a 3-day non-stop tour, determined to find the right business that fits their personalities.
So, after a conversation between two friends surf fishing on vacation at Carova Beach, less than a year later, Ryan and Bobby officially took over the ownership of the Flying Fish Café in Kill Devil Hills in June of 2012.
Bobby is the General Manager of The Flying Fish Café and currently resides in Nags Head, NC, with his wife, Tiffany. Ryan resides in West Virginia with his wife, Shelley, and two girls, Lindsey and Maddie.
The Flying Fish Café is about a great atmosphere, tremendous food, seasoned knowledgeable service, some of the best Chef’s on the beach, and especially giving our patrons an overall “Dining Experience.”
